Frequently asked questions
Straight answers about what TriScore measures, where the numbers come from, and what it costs. Math, not marketing.
Understanding your TriScore
What is TriScore?
TriScore is a data-analysis tool from Statement Analytics LLC that scores an investment account on three pillars — Returns, Fees, and Risk — using the account's own recorded history. Each analyzed account receives a composite TriScore from 0 to 100, always shown with its band (for example, Above par · 63/100). TriScore describes what already happened in an account. It is not investment advice, and it makes no predictions.
What do Returns, Fees, and Risk measure?
Returns — the account's investment gain or loss after fees, with deposits and withdrawals netted out so money moving in or out doesn't masquerade as performance. It is measured from the start of the first analyzed period to the end of the last, the span is labeled wherever the figure appears, and it is never annualized.
Fees — the costs visible in the account's records: account and platform fees, advisory-fee deductions that appear in the data, and fund product fees computed from the account's holdings.
Risk — how much variability the account experienced over the analyzed span compared with its benchmark.
What do the bands mean?
TriScore uses a five-band scale: Substantially below par, Below par, In line, Above par, and Substantially above par, with band boundaries at 20, 40, 60, and 80 and par at 50. The band and the number always appear together — the word tells you where the account landed, the number tells you where in the band.
What is the HAB?
The Historical Allocation Benchmark (HAB™) is a comparison to the market based on your account's actual asset mix — how a passive version of the same allocation tracked over the same span, built from disclosed historical index data. The HAB™ is a benchmark generated using disclosed historical data and does not represent actual investment results — direct investment in an index is not possible.
Why doesn't my TriScore change when I switch windows or benchmarks?
Because the score isn't a view — it's a measurement. The composite TriScore and its band are always computed against the HAB over the account's full analyzed span. The window and benchmark selectors change what you're looking at, never what was measured.
Why is part of my history unscored?
TriScore scores only what the account's records support. Where a period can be reconstructed exactly from year-to-date figures, it is scored. Where it can't, the report says so with a specific reason — for example insufficient periods or fragmented history — instead of filling the gap with an estimate. A gap is disclosed, never guessed into your score.
Is TriScore investment advice?
No. TriScore is impersonal data analysis of an account's recorded history. Nothing in a TriScore report is a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold any security, to pursue any investment strategy, or to retain or terminate any investment adviser. The figures are informational starting points for a conversation with a qualified financial professional.
Connecting your accounts
How does TriScore connect to my account?
Through Plaid, the same connection service used by many financial apps. You sign in with your institution inside Plaid's secure window — TriScore never sees or stores your login credentials. The connection is read-only: TriScore can retrieve account data, and nothing more. It cannot move money, place trades, or change anything at your institution.
What data does TriScore retrieve?
Holdings, transactions, balances, and account identifiers for the accounts you choose to link — the inputs the analysis needs. How that data is handled is covered in our Privacy Policy.
What does "Score building" mean?
A newly linked account may not yet have enough validated history to score. TriScore computes a score once the account has sufficient consecutive, fully validated periods; until then, the dashboard shows the account as building. If a score can't be computed, the account shows the specific reason rather than a placeholder number.
My institution isn't available — what are my options?
Institution coverage comes through Plaid and expands over time. If your institution isn't supported yet, you can leave your email and we'll notify you when coverage changes.
Pricing & access
What does TriScore cost?
During our launch period accounts are offered at no charge. After that, $50 per account for 12 months of full report access — your dashboard shows exactly what applies to each account before you unlock it. There is a single price for the complete report: no plans to compare, no add-ons.
Does access renew automatically?
Paid access renews automatically at $50 per account each year, so your reports continue without interruption. You can cancel any time from Manage billing on your dashboard — cancelling stops the renewal, and your access runs through the end of the period you've already paid for. Accounts unlocked free during our launch period don't renew automatically; when the free 12 months end, you choose whether to continue at $50 per year. Renewal pricing and timing for each account are always shown before you're charged.
What's included when I unlock an account?
The complete interactive report for that account — every section, window, and benchmark view — plus a downloadable PDF of the full report, for 12 months. Before unlocking, you can see the account's composite TriScore with its band and how the HAB benchmark is built.
Your data
Who can see my report?
You. Each report is confidential and prepared exclusively for the named account holder(s). It isn't published, and it isn't sent to your institution or your advisor. Details on how data is stored and processed are in our Privacy Policy.
What happens if I deactivate my account?
Deactivating closes your access and stops all analysis and email. Your records are retained as required for legal and accounting purposes and are not used for anything else. Reactivate any time by signing back in — or to fully delete your data, contact support@statementanalytics.com.
